4 Questions to Ask yourself
Oct 04, 20244 Questions to Ask Yourself . . .
(if you want to decrease your risk of breast cancer)
1. Why do you want to decrease your risk?
Yes, I understand that the simple answer might be to avoid breast cancer or a recurrence, but WHY? What is your BIG WHY? Is it to see your children grow up? Is it to be able to help your aging parents? Is it to travel the world? Is it to have more time to make a difference in this world or keep doing the things you love? Pinpointing your why and remembering it will help keep your motivation to make the changes that can decrease your risk of breast cancer high even on days when it feels too difficult.
2. What has stopped you from making the changes to decrease your risk of breast cancer so far?
Is it fear? Is it not knowing where to start? Is it too much confusing information? Is it being stuck in the “what now” phase after going through treatment for breast cancer? Maybe you’ve even read EVERYTHING on how to decrease your risk, but you aren’t sure how to make the first step or which first step to make. I understand! It can be confusing and overwhelming. But, I’m here to make it easier, more clear, and more simple for you.
3. What will your life look like 1 year, 5 years and 10 years from now if you do nothing to try to decrease your risk?
Will you have regrets? Will you still be stuck in fear and confusion? Will you be asking yourself “what if?” And don’t rely on “later.” There’s never going to be a “perfect” time to start making changes that can decrease your risk of breast cancer. The best time to start is now. And it can be easy. You CAN make simple changes to decrease your risk.
4. On a scale of 1-10 how committed are you to making the changes necessary to decrease your risk of breast cancer?
I love the saying "Nothing changes if nothing changes.” If you want to decrease your risk of breast cancer, you must be committed to making the changes to do so. And this takes us back to Question #1–remembering your why helps you make the commitment and stay committed. However, it doesn’t have to be hard.
